Sunday November 23rd

Meeting Point: Laban Centre Laurie Grove Entrance at 13.45

Welcome meeting and informal introductions. There will be an introduction on the themes and aims of the symposium, and an presentation on Spatial Audio Technologies and their application to dance. The keynote of the day will be John Drever. John is Head of the Unit for Sound Practice Research, which is kindly hosting the Symposium's first meeting and has been promoting and facilitating its organisation. He will present his thoughts on the event and deliver a lecture on:

Architectsonics:The Heritage of Collaboration between Music, Sound, Architecture and the Natural World


Monday November 24th

Workshops with The Game of Life System, led by Wouter Snoei, Part 1
Wouter will introduce the WFS system of 192 loudspeakers and its control software WFSCollider, which he designed. More detailed information will be posted here shortly

Location: Laban Centre Studio LG01
Time: 4pm-6pm
The Game of Life Showcase: A concert of spatial audio works specifically created for the system by Composers from the Netherlands and from all over the world.


Tuesday November 25th

Location: Laban Centre, Laurie Grove, Studio LG01
Time: 9am-1pm

Workshops with The Game of Life System, led by Wouter Snoei, Part 2 Wouter will continue his workshop, and offer hands-on sessions with the WFS system and its software More detailed information will be posted here shortly

Location: Laban Centre Studio LG01
Time: 2pm-3pm

Demo of Sonic Movement and Dance Practice led by Jalianne Li and Tommaso Perego
This 1hr session will showcase parts of the work Stranded and discuss the main issues and things to consider when working with spatial audio in apllication to dance. We will move from perceptual issues, timbre manipulation and space orientation, to a demonstration of the creative building of sonic and body movement in a joint choreography.

Time: Two Performances at 4:15pm and at 5:15pm, 30 mins each approx
Stranded: A dance and sonic movement performance choreographed by Jalianne Li. Music Composed by Tommaso Perego
